Cheltenham Museum and Art Gallery have loaned us a number of fascinating artefacts as part of their Take-Away loan service which we are currently displaying in the Curve Gallery.  These wonderful resources will provide references for our Art students in their coursework pieces and can also be used by other departments in the school.  The exhibition will continue until 29th May 2012

The Private View after school on Thursday 8 March was well-attended by pupils whose work was on display and their parents who came to proudly view it.  We also acted as host to visiting teachers from other schools.  The Citizen photographer came along and took some nice pictures of Joe and Matthew Phillips, amongst others, so we’re hoping to see an entry in the Press shortly!

The Curve Gallery is delighted to present this Key Stage 3 Celebration Exhibition which celebrates the achievements of our students in Years 7, 8 and 9.  The range of work on show includes drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and 3D.  The quality of the work is very impressive.

 Exhibitions in the Curve Gallery are open to view most school days from 8.45-3.45pm.  You are warmly invited to the Private View which takes place from 4.00-5.30pm on Thursday 8 March where you will be welcomed by a glass or wine or juice.

Lewis Turner, Kyle Gardner and Matt Crockford will be representing Churchdown School, alongside 22 students from other schools in Gloucestershire, working on a range of creative design briefs including photography, garden design and graphics. Celia helps Yr 7s

Professional wire artist Celia Smith (who recently exhibited her Drawing with Wire exhibition in the Curve Gallery) worked with Churchdown School students from Year 7 and Year 10 on Monday 18 July.

On 8 July the Art Department took a large group of Year 10 Fine Art students on a trip to Oxford.  They visited the Ashmolean Museum, Pitt Rivers Museum and the Botanical Gardens, and took the opportunity to walk around the city and observe the architecture.  The visit focussed on the controlled assessment component of their course and provided an excellent research opportunity.
