All Year 3 pupils have been working with Ms Rickard to make Roman mosaic chicken prints. Two large collaborative hangings in fabric have been achieved, one by each class. The pupils learned how to draw a chicken in line and interpret this into a two colour print. Many children achieved a series of successful dual layer prints which contributed to exciting and ambitious hangings/table cloths.

An Evening to Celebrate the Arts

A triple arts celebratory evening was held on Tuesday 16th November in the Curve Gallery at Churchdown School, comprising:
- A Private View for ‘Curious Drawers’ – the textile exhibition by the Brunel Broderers
Parents, families, friends and students were able to see the fascinating exhibition in the Curve Gallery. Opening the drawers of various cabinets revealed lots of excitement and surprises.
- Aimhigher Dance-Art Initiative
The short film of Year 7 and 8 students who were involved in the Aimhigher Dance-Art project was shown and participants who attended were awarded a copy of the DVD.
- Arts Partnership Calendar
The arts partnership schools, Churchdown Parton Manor, Longlevens and Innsworth Juniors, The Milestone School and Chosen Hill, have contributed examples of their respective students’ work for a 2011 calendar. These were given out to representatives from each school.
It was a very enjoyable occasion and a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the arts at Churchdown School.
