The annual Family Art Workshop at Churchdown School on Saturday 2nd October, organised by Sara Rickard, community arts leader and teacher at the school, was very well attended by 80 families comprising over 220 people.  All ages coming together to take part in a range of activities led by 10 artists, including making recycled scrap sculptures, jewellery, felting, 3D bugs, bleach painting, paper stitching, collage, felt-making, wire dragonflies and a chance to draw faces in a big red double-decker bus.

Families  came away laden with things they’d made and making comments such as ‘my family had a great time, the event was very well organised with lots of skilled helpers and resources – we’d forgotten how much we enjoy artwork!’, ‘it was a great opportunity for mums and dads to enjoy creative time with their children’ and ‘an excellent day which I would recommend to anyone – the kids thoroughly enjoyed it and it kept them away from the computer and PS2!’.  The artists enjoyed the lively and welcoming atmosphere and the fantastic conversations.
